The Enrolment That Shouldn't Have Happened
A scope mistake nobody caught for months, and the gap that made it possible.
Picture an RTO that delivers months of training against a qualification that was never on its scope. Nobody is negligent. One person adds the qualification to the system expecting an application to be approved. Another enrols a student against it, with no reason to know the difference. This is an illustrative composite, not a specific organisation.
The mistake is ordinary. The gap before anyone notices is the part worth fixing.
Checklists and second approvals help, but they weaken when intake is busy, staff change or a client is waiting for a yes.
Software will not make the mistake impossible, and Upskroll does not block that enrolment. What changes is visibility. Each program and unit carries a scope status validated against training.gov.au: in scope, out of scope or not yet validated. An optimistic addition no longer looks identical to an approved one, and the audit trail shows what else was touched.
A question for this week: if a non-compliant enrolment were created today, how long before anyone noticed?
